Narrated by Abu Dawood (no. 417); al-Tabaraani in al-Mu’jam al-Awsat (5/215); al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan (6/501), via Hammaad ibn Salamah, from Thaabit al-Banaani, from Abu Madeenah al-Daarimi. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (2648). He commented on it by saying: From this hadeeth we learn two things that were among the actions of all the righteous predecessors (may Allaah be pleased with them all): The first is to say salaam when parting; Another thing we learn is that the Sahaabah adhered to this practise, namely reciting Soorat al-‘Asr..."

Re: The Route

Not a person or something islamic but i heard about this and thought it was cool. Lambert's cafe, home of the throwed roll... Not halal but you can go vegetarian or seafood and still get the experience. http://www.throwedrolls.com...

Re: Want to help?

Salam alaikom, I also suggest a scrapbook type thing. This will be so memorable for the people on the trip. Collect various napkins, soda caps, pictures, quotes, chocolate wrappers and what have you and stick them into the scrapbook on the way, day by day...

I would also like to see a "lessons learned today" or "blessings encountered"...like something that makes the day you lived special and also have you reflect on it and capture it in a "roadtrip to paradise" by thinking of a knowledge byte...after all, seeking knowledge is in the hadith, so if you share with readers a daily knowledge byte that might be nice and also help you nugget / capsulize / capture a self reflection.

Re: Want to help?

Salaam,

Come through columbus ohio on thursday night, inshaAllah I will try to get a few things set up for you to meet some people at the masjid here. And you can stay the night at my place inshaAllah. Let me know via phone whether or not you can make it.

Re: Day 1 – Plainfield, IN

Nice man! That looks awesome!! When I was in Sudan we had a celebration in my village for a guy a who read half of the Quran in one day. Didn't know there were muslims here that also celebrated the reading of the Quran :)

Re: Want to help?

suggestion: big, life-size, map-type collage with piks and quotes and thoughts...like a big pin up board of the journey in a snap shot. Not everything will fit but you can put push pins at the stops with thread marking the path...a john nash / 007 type craze ;)

Re: The Route

Assalam Alaikum,

Dallas is not in your route, but if you can re-route from Albuquerque to Irving, Tx, you will meet a great community at the Irving Islamic Center. The Imam is Imam Zia, and I can put in a word to him. Irving is also the place where Bayyinah Institute is located. If you can re-route do not hesitate to add it to your itinerary.

May Allah make your trip fruitful and bring you back home with abundance of barakah in your life ...

Re: The Route

I would recommend Sheikh Omar Baloch. Amazing speaker. Truly. As engaging as Nouman Ali Khan. He speaks about the Qur'an in a way that makes you connect human nature with the miracles presented and how amazing it is.
This is his page http://visitislam.blogspot.....
